Style Scouting: Vol. 69

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Thanksgiving is a few days away. Are you hosting it at your house this year? After last year, it will feel nice to have a traditional Thanksgiving day celebration with family and/or friends.

Ed and I will be heading to Virginia to our daughter Mandy’s house that she recently bought. It is her first house. It will also be her first time hosting our family Thanksgiving.

I am looking forward to it, but will miss not seeing my older daughter, Kelly, son-in-law and granddaughter Zoe who live in California. Thank goodness for Google Duo and Facetime so we can at least be together on a video call.

Then over the rest of the holiday weekend, we are going to help Mandy get a few home improvement and decorating projects checked off her “to-do” list.

  2. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week! Would enjoy seeing the befores/afters of your projects with Mandy. Blessings to the rest of the family in California. I think I’m going to try the bacon wrapped brussel sprouts.

      Hi Deanna –

      I do plan to share some of what I help Mandy with. We already helped her add a French door, new ceiling lighting and added insulation to her basement. She just painted her dining room a mulberry color at the top and we are going to add wide bead board around the lower half. This weekend I am going to paint a decorative screen that she has in her living room. It was once mine – it makes me happy to paint it to fit her style. I will take photos.

  3. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful day with your daughter, Mandy and create some beauty in her home. I always enjoy Michael’s blog, Inspired by Charm. He really does a beautiful job with everything he does. I have made the pinecone wreath and it lasts forever. It’s more work than it looks like it would be. Birds like to nest in them and can leave a mess.

      Hi Nancy – Michael is so talented in everything he does – from food, decor, crafts. He is truly gifted. One thing that my yard has an abundance of is pinecones – hundreds of them every week that I need to pick up. Good to know about the birds – we have a lot of them too. :-) I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving! I enjoyed the link to the barndo. We built ours about 3 years ago. It’s not as grand as those posted but we love it. Most comfy home I’ve ever owned. High ceilings low maintenance and everyone loves it.

      Hi Paula – I am on my way to Cville as I type this. Ed is driving and I am using the down time to get caught up on replying to blog comments.I always enjoy visiting and getting to explore Cville and go to the Farmer’s Market to stock up on fresh produce and sourdough bread that I can’t get in SC.
      A few weeks ago, we walked the Rivanna Trail (spelling?) and had coffee at a new place that was along the trail. It was very nice. I can’t remember the name of it though. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your mom.

      Thanks Jennifer – I do plan to share some of the projects that Ed and I help Mandy do to add her style to her house. She is excited and has already painted a few rooms. Since your email says Ottawa – I am assuming your are Canadian – hence I hope you already had a Happy Thanksgiving.:-)
