Style Scouting: Vol. 212

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Before reading through the links I found this week, I wanted to make sure to thank all of you for leaving me such nice comments about the damage that Hurricane Helene did to my house. I got to read all of them when I went to my sister’s home where they got their power back two days after the storm.

Reading them helped keep my spirits up instead of thinking about all that needs to be done to fix the roof and guest room and living without power for 6 days. I laughed out loud after reading what Janet wrote…  the tree is keeping with your “white and woodsy” design style. :-)

The past week will be one I won’t forget, but when I think about all that was lost in the Asheville, NC area and in Florida, my problems are small.

Being without power for 6 days was tough, but we got through it. When the power did go back on the fridge that was already giving us problems before the storm basically didn’t restart and leaked all over the floor, ruining the floor.

We were able to get a new one right away, but now in the kitchen we have floor damage, plus kitchen ceiling damage from the tree. Insurance will cover some of it, but after lots of thought, we will hire someone to redo the entire kitchen – floor to ceiling. I will post more about all of this soon, right now I am just trying to get back into my daily routine.

The rock stars in my life this past week are our neighbors who have helped us remove some of the tree debris and also the tree removal service guys and the power company lineman. They have been working around the clock!!!! I can’t thank them enough for all they did and are still doing!!!!!

Now onto this week’s links.

GREAT style scouting this week, D. I cooed about all those builder projects. Love you shared an American flag MADE in the USA (we must be careful) and sure enjoyed the Tiny Steps article. I sent it to a few I love who need to read it too. Thanks for the great reads and eye candy.

  2. So fortunate that your sister had moved close by & you could rely on family during this time. When we had a bad water leak in our bathroom a few years ago, we decided to redo the entire outdated bathroom since it needed an overhaul even before the leak. Looking forward to hearing about your kitchen updates & thankful no one was hurt.

GM.. I feel awful that I missed your posting about your experience with HELENE…. (the last 2 Sunday mornings have been a whirlwind). Thankfully you both are OK… that is what is really important !!!

  4. Just wanted to say I enjoy your Sunday Style scouting posts. I frequently pin them or share with my sister.

Thank you. I hope clean up goes well. And if it takes a tree crashing down to get the kitchen of your dreams … go with it!

  5. Diane, the photo last week of the damage to your home was horrific but, as you say, less than other places got. I’m glad you’ve had the space and time to both make fixes now and think about the future. Also, these are great looking style scouts, and I felt it was Nantucket with the first photo, which was verified at the end by the bedroom images, where the artwork included a map of Nantucket and whimsical art so linked in my heart with that place. Navy blue wicker beds. Lovely choice. Good luck with carrying on!
