Spring Bedding That Will Instantly Refresh Your Bedroom

When it comes to taking care of our homes, spring is the time of year that many of us actually look forward to cleaning our home and then freshening the decor to greet the warmer months of the year.

This spring, I started the seasonal ritual in my bedroom. After a thorough room cleaning, when I placed my previous spring/summer bedding that was going on 6 years on the bed, it looked worn and faded. After years of use and many washings, it was time to go in search of new blue and white bedding.

I still wanted a blue and white bedding to stay with the bedroom’s color scheme and kept my pom-pom bed skirt in place.

After an online search, I found the perfect one on Bedsure. It is a Microfiber Quilted Blue & White Floral Bedspread Coverlet with matching pillow shams in the color Daisy.

It was exactly the look I was envisioning to go in the room for the warmer months of the year. The bedspread is:

  • Extremely comfortable to the touch.
  • Well-made with beautiful quilted detailing and texture.
  • Reversible and just the right weight for spring and summer.

I was so excited to find a bedspread that met all my criteria and best of all, it was affordable.

After finding the bedspread, I browsed the Bedsure website and their Amazon Shop to see if I could find coordinating bedding essentials to go with it. I did!

Bedsure also offers a variety of luxury sheet options in different fabrics and colors, including cooling bamboo sheets that are:

  • Durable
  • Soft & Breathable
  • Naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites

In my quest to use more sustainable and eco-friendly options in my home, I decided to get the bamboo sheets in the color white. Bamboo is an ideal choice for those who sleep hot (like my husband) or who simply want a comfy and healthy sleep every night.

What I found after sleeping and washing my new bedding is that expensive bedding doesn’t always mean better quality! Less expensive brands, like Bedsure can be just as good or even better then their more expensive counterparts.

Bed Sheet Washing Tips

To keep bed sheets soft, smooth and long-lasting:

  1. Wash in cold.
  2. Do not use chlorine bleach.
  3. Do not dry the sheets on a high setting. Use a low to medium setting and don’t over dry them.

Added Layers of Bedding for Extra Comfort & Style

I like to add layers of bedding on a bed in the form of a cushy comforter, covered in a soft cotton duvet, a blanket and a bedspread in the spring and summer. Having multiple goes beyond simply making the bed look inviting.

Having layers of different weights of soft bedding maximizes the comfort factor that you can snuggle into when reading, watching a movie, or taking a nap in the bed when the A/C is on.

It is easy to remove a layer on a hot night, or use it on a chilly night.

The sky blue textured waffle weave cotton Bedsure blanket matches my bedroom perfectly! It’s skin-friendly and the breathable qualities of the woven material make it a great additional layer to add to a bed.

Extras: Sham Covered Bed Pillows

Matching or coordinating pillow shams are for more than just adding decorative interest. When you have a few extras, they come in handy to prop yourself up to be comfy-cozy while reading in bed.

I couldn’t decide which pillow shams I liked better, the shams that came with the duvet or the quilted ones that came with the floral bedspread.

Since I no longer use throw pillows on my bed, I decided I had the room to use both the quilted floral shams and the waffle weave. I like seeing the mix of pattern and texture.

I change my pillowcase every few days and really like the soft and smooth bamboo fiber pillowcase that came with my sheet set. I ordered a separate set of the bamboo fiber pillowcases so I always have a fresh and clean one on hand.

Even though the color scheme in my bedroom stayed the same, the new Bedsure bedding makes not only the bed feel fresh & new, but the whole room is lighter & brighter now… and a whole lot cleaner. :-) Just the way spring should look and feel!

Your bedroom looks great! Sometimes a good cleaning and a few new items
makes all the difference, doesn’t it?

I have been cleaning big time – we had some warm days a few days ago (but yes, it snowed yesterday lol) and I cleaned the windows inside and out and the sills that get so icky. Felt so good to get that done. (I have a lot of trees and have to clean the back windows often due to pollens and such.)

Love your pretty bedroom. My mom’s fav was blue and white – reminds me of her. ♥

Hi Michele – Thanks! :-) Cleaning can be a chore, but oh the rewards for a fresh and clean look and smell. Growing up I had a pink and red room that I shared with my sisters. I always wanted blue, but had no say back then. Once I got married, I changed over to blue and white. I find it calming and serene – yet refreshing.

Oh, I just love your bedding! So fresh and light!

I also change the pillow cases every few days. I’ve learned to put two sets of pillow cases on the pillows and then one time I only have to slip off the top case. When I have all four of them ready to wash, then I do that and put the four back on again (two on each pillow).

Hi Anonymous – Thanks for taking the time to share your excellent idea about placing two sets of pillow cases on the pillows and then removing the top one when it is time to change it. Such a great idea that I am going to do from now on. :-)

  3. It looks lovely Diane, fresh and so nice for Spring and Summer. I looked at the web site and they have a nice selection of products. I especially like the blankets as I like to layer on my bed. The quilt set is a perfect blue for your bedroom.

Hi Joan – I saw the sky blue blanket first. I loved the waffle weave texture and the color so I searched around the Bedsure site and then found the blue and white floral spread. Going to bed at night is a not only a visual treat for my eyes now, but so comfy to sleep on such soft sheets and snuggly blanket and duvet. :-)

  4. Looks so pretty! I love blue! Did I miss the info about your cute bed skirt? Where did you find it? and how do you keep it in place?

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Susan – The bedskirt I bought a few years ago. I will send you the link. It has elastic around the top and goes around the boxspring. I will be posting more about bed skirt next week. So stay tuned.

      1. Thank you, Diane! Your posts are always helpful and I look forward to seeing your posts.

  5. I love your new Spring bedroom.
Could you do a post on how to get the bed skirt to stay in place? I’ve just given up😂

Hi Shelle – Thanks for the great idea about how to get a bed skirt to stay in place for a post. I will get a post written this week to post early next week.

  6. Your room is beautiful and I love the information about Bedsure…thank you. Might try the bamboo sheets 💜

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Lynn – I have had a lot of sheets in my life and this is the first time for bamboo. Sleeping on them is divine! Smooth and soft without being to silky. They wash well also which isn’t always the case with sheets. I have a friend who just told me that she recently splurged on the designer sheets that are all over the internet. She spend a lot of money and said after washing they were awful. She was upset and felt lied to. I love my new sheets and Bedsure’s affordable prices. :-)

  7. Diane I have to say that although the room is stunning, the choice of microfiber surprises me. I think of all the fibers this is the lowest in comfort, and durability. It doesn’t breathe and does pill. I have not experienced a good night sleep under any microfiber in hotels or air BNB always end up overheated ( not flashes 😆)with a poor nights sleep.
On the other hand, the sheets in bamboo sound simply divine and on the upper scale end of comfort.

    1. Your bedroom looks so fresh and clean as well as pretty. It will be perfect for summer..

      1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Nancy – I feel accomplished now that I have one room cleaned and ready for the warmer months. Now I need to do the rest of the house.

    2. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Laura – The microfiber is soft, but is a little different than a 100% cotton quilt. When sleeping, I fold it at the bottom of the bed and use the duvet which is cotton. I love the bedspread for decor reasons. :-). Gotta have pretty. The bamboo sheets are divine – the best I ever have had, even after washing.
