6 Christmas decorating projects that you can make to add a festive holiday vibe to your home. 

Instead of making a new project to share with you today, I thought I would show you my favorite holiday decorations that I have used in past years and that made the cut this year.

I made this Trash to Treasure Ornament Bowl the first year I started blogging. I used two unmatched pieces I found at the thrift store. I have used it in my foyer every Christmas since making it.

No. 2: Knitting Needle Ornament Tree

This Tabletop Knitting Needle Tree is taken apart to be stored each year since all that is holding it up is a knitting needle.  It is super easy to make.

No. 3: Memory Ornaments

I like to hang souvenirs and keepsakes on my tree.  I call them memory ornaments.  I have shared more in my post, Memory Ornaments.  This key to my childhood home is my favorite.

No. 4: Porch Light Decoration

I used real greens to make these outdoor Hook-On Greenery for Outdoor Light Fixtures decorations , but this year I am going to make them with artificial greens so I can reuse them each year.  Wait until you see how easy it is to make and hang them.

No. 5: Christmas Tree Stand Cover

I made this Photo Frame Tree Stand Cover last year. I used it around the artificial tree in my dining room. This year I am going to use it around the real tree for the family room.

No. 6: Paper Wreath

I love preserved boxwood wreaths, but they are pricey. Last year I decided to make my own using paper – Paper Boxwood Wreath. I included a free printable of the leaves in the post. It is fast and easy to make if you have a digital cutting machine.

  1. Your Christmas trees are super fantastic, the ones that everyone who cherishes Christmas ornaments would be dreamed of! I saw you are a ball owner, like myself! The question is, how do you manage to keep your ball away from the tree? Aren’t you afraid that she might try to hide among the branches? If you happen to see my message, pls answer, because this is a problem I haven’t solved myself and I am looking forward to a possible solution.

  2. Diane, You have never done a project I didn’t love. I was surprised that you didn’t choose the ornament you made from your dad’s red Christmas shirt for this post. That is my all time favorite blog posts (ideas) ever.

      Hi Sylvia – The ornaments I made for my dad are my ABSOLUTE favorite.They are in a whole other league of “Favorite” for me. When I wrote the post last Friday, I was trying to stay with the number 6 for the amount of weeks left till Christmas while showing some of my older projects that still make the cut every year that newer readers to my blog may not have seen.

      My dad’s shirt post and one I wrote about my daughters being the best 2 DIY Projects I ever made are my two favorite posts I have ever written. They are close to my heart. Thanks for being a long term reader. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season – Enjoy XO

    Planning to do #1, 2 and 4. Thanks for the great, easy-to-do ideas! I also saw that picture using branches sprayed white in urns with silver ornaments. I love that idea too :-)

      Hi Connie – The branches made the cut too, but I had to limit my post to 6 projects to stay in the 6 more Fridays theme. :-) I love the way the branches look at night with the candle light and mirror reflection. I tried to get that light captured in the photo, but it is much better to see in person.

    Hello! I LOVE that take on a boxwood wreath! Brilliant!
    Can you recommend a paper cutter? I like to do paper crafts and letter paper crafts with fancier cuts, and I don’t know which one on the market to pick! Which one did that amazing boxwood look?

      Hi Lisa – I made the paper cuts using a Sillouette digital cutting machine. I have a Cameo and would highly recommend the Designer Edition software over the basic program the machine comes with. Silhouette also sells a smaller machine called a Portrait. I know some bloggers use a Cricut. I have not used one so I can’t give you a comparison. I am very happy with the Cameo. If you do think you are going to get one, every month they have specials. There is a big one coming up for black Friday where the machines and supplies are discounted. If you do get one- I get credit if you use my promo code “OwnStyle”
